Holy Island:
A little island near Berwick upon Tweek. You can reach it only by car during
low tide. So better check the tide timetable, before leaving the main land.
Don't try to leave Holy Island later as stated on the timetable.
Lindisfarne
Castle is definitive the main attraction on this little island. Don't miss
the Lindisfarne Prior. The castle is a National
Trust property.
Opening times:
1 April to 31 Oct: daily except Fri (but open Good Fri). As Lindisfarne is a
tidal island times vary so that visitors may reach the castle at low tide. On
open days the castle will open for 4¼hrs, which will always include 123. It
will either open earlier or later, depending on the tide.
Garden open only when gardener is present, usually Fri but phone in advance

Note: No large camera cases, boxes or rucksacks. No WC.

On Holy Island, 6 Miles East of A1 across causeway
By buses:
Arriva Northumbria 477 from Berwick-upon-Tweed. Times vary with tides (tel. 01670 533128 bus times
only)
Train Station:
Berwick-upon-Tweed 10 Miles from causeway.

Berwick upon Tweek:
Nice middle sized old town. A must when you visit Holy Island. Direct train
connects to Newcastle and as well (not so often) to Edinburgh. Visit the
churches and the castle.
