Ambleside
Ambleside is a very nice town in the southern part of the Lake District,
situated at the north end of Lake Windermere. It is an ideal place for walks
through the mountains and Mountain Biking Tours.
The Tourist Information is locate at the junction Rydal and Lake Road. The
staff members are very helpful and can offer a huge range of information. If you
planning to do some sport activities or just want to know some tourist
attractions in the surrounding area, then I highly recommend to give them visit.

There are plenty of hotels (5 stars to 2 stars) as well as Bed &
Breakfast accommodations available in Ambleside, but I recommend to give the Tourist Information (Tel. 015394-32582) a call and check the room availability, especially
during the main season. I was traveling at the first November weekend 2000 to
the Lakes and had difficulties to find an accommodation.
Ambleside has plenty of nice and as well some cheep restaurants offering from
traditional English over Asian meals up to small and cheep pub food. It
isn't that difficult to find to a pub around the town centre; nearly in every
street there is one.
A nice route (take
your car) is the A592 from Windermere to Lake Ullswater. You have some great
view on and over the Lake District.
